Abstract

Under the overall objective of "Internationalization of Science and Research", the project coordinator’s
experience provides for many opportunities for the strategic development of scientific cooperation with three
universities in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan (Humanitarian University, Bishkek, Medical
University, Astana and Tajik National University in Dushanbe). The scientific strengths and problem solving
competences of the project coordinator in the development of adequate and state of the art drug help and
the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS and hepatitis) shall be used to elaborate new
cooperation and research approaches with the three partners from Central Asia and the associated
partners BMBF and BMG. Responding to the challenges of the spread of drug-related infectious diseases
among injecting drug users, the aim is to address the increasing importance of social work and self-help
